Proud mother

Who are these people who think that a child from a broken home has no chance of making it in our world.
Today #2 son received his exam results

Maths A*
science dble award A
Religious studies A
English Language B
Physical education B
french B
German B
English Literature C
Geography C
Product Design C
Business Studies C (he didn't even study this subject but was entered into the exam by the school anyway so I am very proud of him for getting a C grade after not attending a single lesson)

He has enrolled at college today to study Maths and statistics, further maths, Law and finally ICT. He intends to get a place at university to study maths in two years time. when asked why he chose Law as one of his subjects his reply 'so that I can learn what my rights are'.

My boy will go far

He has been getting excited for the last week or so waiting to get his results, last night he said it felt like christmas eve.....he had earlier been saying that he felt like camping at the schol gates ready to be the first through the gate to get his results. He has been very confident that he would get good results.

Maybe if he had revised more he would have got even better results but to have done what he has is good.

Now he just has to knuckle down and work hard for the next few years.

Well done Number 2 Son!
My teen also got her results today. She has done more than enough to get onto the course she wants to do at College but everyone suspects that she could have done even better if she had really put in any effort. Hopefully the new course will give her the all-consuming interest and impetus to progress in this field that her time at school with its more generalised study base and strict rules did not.
This doesnt mean I am any less proud of her but it is tinged with a little sadness that maybe we made the wrong choice of school for her five years ago.

wild cat thank you and I'm please to see you have been worrying about you hope you are ok

n this child needs very little encouragement to get where he wants, his only problem is that he has never had to try hard to get the results. He has always done well wthout revising and I always tell him that if he revised he would do even better.

pixie my son is pleased with his results he had no problems getting onto the course he wanted he didnt need to get any better results but I still think you should always do the best you can.

dj thanx

cake congratulations to your daughter too. I agree with yu about what they could achieve. My kids dont go to the best school in the area but they have been happy and done well which is all I ask

bittersweet thank you hun

Great work #2 ... isn't it sad when they get good grades without even working too hard. My daughter received 1 C, 1 B and the rest were A ... and she barely opens a book

You don't want to nag them to the point where they just stop thinking about school
